KINGMAN

Mrs. Susan S. Allen, 79, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday at her home near here. She had been seriously ill the past week. Death was attributed to a heart ailment. Mrs. Allen lived in Fountain County for more than 60 years. She was a member of Cooper’s Chapel Church. Born Sept. 24, 1884 year Wichita, Kan., she was a daughter of William K. and Rhodila Kesner Askren. She married Pearl Allen April 8, 1905. Survivors include her husband, two sons, Delmar of Rt. 3, Veedersburg and Jesse of Rt. 1 Veedersburg; two brothers, W. O. Askren of Rt. 2, Covington and John Askren of Blackwell, Okla.; four sisters, Mrs. Belle Fisher of Veedersburg, Mrs. Mary Holycross of Cayuga, Mrs. Mamie Aiken of Rt. 1, Covington and Mrs. Goldie Flowers of West Terre Haute; four grandchildren and eight [great-]grandchildren. The body was taken to Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Burial will be in Fraternal Cemetery here. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Saturday.
